i've set up my blog recently (as you can clearly see) and i've found myself a little bored of it already. I was tellin my best friend, kri, all about it and she said that i should just post something which i feel like posting, and so yeah, here it goes...
i'm gonna talk about the world cup larh, i think its a pretty current thing to post anything about it, and its pretty easy for people to understand what i wanna say bout the world cup considering that its not a personal problem or a personal issue, or anything personal larh.. you know what what i'm trying to say here.. :)
OK, the world cup, ummm... does ANYBODY else notice that this years' world cup is seriously lacking the hype that a world cup is supposed to have in the first place??!! i don't know, maybe it's got something to do with the fact that this year's world cup is not being hosted by a european nation, where most of us here in Malaysia get football coverage from. Most footy fans consider europe to be home for most of the great football players of this time and age, just look at players like wayne rooney, franc ribery, andrea prilo, rio ferdinand, fernando torres, david villa, bastian schweinsteiger, wesley scheidjer, philip lahm, and on and on and on.... hang on, it probably also has got something to do with the fact that such great players like lionel messi, kaka, and cristiano ronaldo ALL play in europe, and not in their respective homelands.. so yeah, everytime the world cup is held in europe, we get all this hype, but now that it's in south africa, a country which many perceive as third world country, the hype of the world cup has just beem zapped outta the game, damn...
nope, not done with this blog just yet, now for a little twist.. last night, in an ordinary mamak shop in my permas, the brazil portugal match was playing.. of course the shop was packed larh, what else do you expect when two big teams play against each other. Brazil - known for it samba style football, smooth, flamboyant, and effective. Portugal - they have a good set of players, and well they just trashed north korea 7-0 in the group stages!!! crazzzaayy... anyways, after i've said that the world cup is lacking hype and all, that match was pretty electrifying to watch. around the 59th minute, ronaldo had broken through the defence of the brazilian side, solo run, and we all know how fast this portugese ass can run... k, as he apprached the goal, everyone in the mamak shop kinda like froze a little, and were watching intently..as he passed the ball to his teammate, who shot, almost everybody kinda held their breath, some men got off their seats, some just on the edge of their seats. as the ball went past the goal ( he didn't score la huh, it was a terrible miss) people got off their seats, shouting "OOOOOHHHHHHHH", "AAIIIYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAA", and "AIIYOOOO" but yeah, get the point, everyone was shouting because he didnt score.
now look deeper, the world cup really brings people together. although nobody in the shop spoke to anyone else unless they were sitting at the same table, and considering tha fact that everyone there consisted of different people of different age groups, speaking different languages, all of that didnt matter as we were all united by a game which 22 players run after a ball with 1 guy supervising them on a pitch (football larr).. amazing really...
and at the moment when that player shot, and everyone was waiting for the ball the go into the net, that was ELECTRIFYING *buzz buzz buzz wazzaapp*, hehheheheeh :D and that's what the world up will never lose even when it's lost its hype - its ability to electrify people, amaze them... fantastic!!!
